Acupuncture for Fertility

Before my IVF journey, the idea of putting a needle into my skin voluntarily was unconscionable. To say I had a fear of needles was an understatement, I would quite literally pass out when getting blood tests - the worst offense being a measly finger prick test. Nevertheless, when you start this process your mentality changes and you start putting this hypothetical child before your fears.

Honestly, I was a huge skeptic of Acupuncture. It seemed like just another added expense, but every doctor and specialist I met with swore by it so I obliged. My advice is to find an acupuncturist who specializes in fertility treatment. The understanding and emotional support alone makes it a great investment. My regimen was 1x a week a month or so before, then 2x a week during injections.

Acupuncture works by improving ovary function and balancing the endocrine system. I found it incredibly relaxing during an otherwise very stressful time in my life. Many acupuncturists also may suggest various Chinese Medicine options for increasing fertility. I plan to explore this more during my next round - stay tuned!
